Ring Size Advice

Ring Size Advice

The most accurate way to find your ring size is to visit a professional jeweller and have your finger measured using a ring sizer.

If you already own a ring that fits the exact finger you would like your new ring to be worn on, you can also take it to a professional jeweller and have it measured on a ring mandrel (ring stick).

If you can’t visit a jeweller, don’t worry. I’m always happy to help. You can get in touch via my contact page at https://byglorya.co.uk/contact, and if needed, I’ll be happy to send you a ring sizer to help you find the perfect fit.

A Few Tips for Measuring Your Ring Size

  • Aim for a snug fit. Your knuckle is usually the widest part of your finger, so your ring should need a gentle push to pass over it. This helps reduce the chance of it slipping off.
  • Once the ring has passed over your knuckle, it will usually feel a little looser. This is completely normal.
  • Finger size changes throughout the day and with temperature. Warm fingers are often slightly larger than cold fingers, so for the most accurate measurement, measure your finger in the evening.
  • Your dominant hand is usually slightly larger than your non-dominant hand. For example, your left ring finger may not be be the same size as your right ring finger, so always measure the finger the ring will be worn on.
  • Wider bands fit more snugly than narrow bands. If you’re ordering a wider band, I recommend choosing half to one size larger for a more comfortable fit.

If you’re unsure at any stage, please get in touch before placing your order. I’d much rather help you find the right size than have you end up with a ring that doesn’t fit perfectly.

Caring for your Jewellery

Please note that each item of jewellery is hand made and therefore is unique. Slight variations in form and materials are part of the unique character of the work. The purchaser is responsible for the care of their unique jewellery piece .

Use warm soapy water and a soft brush to occasionally clean textured pieces and gemstones, rinsing in clean water. Completely dry with a soft lint free, or nonabrasive cloth before storing. Specialist silver polishing cloths which you receive from By Glorya  with every order are 100% cotton infused with special silver cleaners. These silver dusters will help bring your jewellery back to life on a daily basis, essentially lifting off dirt, grease and fingerprints.

Please be careful when cleaning pearls as cleaning agents can destroy their lustre. Do not use an acid based cleaner. The natural oils and moisture in your skin help maintain the lustre of pearls.

Tips for General Jewellery Care

  • Consider removing your jewellery before engaging in practical activities. This will protect against accidental damage to the jewellery
  • whilst exercising. we would recommend removing all jewellery, also  before bathing  or swimming, or using any household chemicals for cleaning.
  • Beauty products for skin and hair can react with precious stones and metals, causing your jewellery to tarnish, discolour and even possibly corrode. To minimise this we suggest you put your jewellery on last, after applying cosmetics, scents and sprays.
  • As exposure to the environment can cause your silver /gold jewellery to tarnish over time we recommend you store your jewellery in airtight boxes or bags and keep them in a cool, dry place.
